Brush Up on Your Marching SkillsOnce again, the school is offering the alumni an opportunity to march with the cadets (their buildings, not staff positions) from the Quad to the Parade field, conduct the ceremony, and march off with the cadets back to the quad. Arrangements will be made to be sure all alumni return to the stands after the parade for our yearly group photo. This can be fun for you and provide a good chance for cadets to meet alumni from the same building. It is strictly voluntary and there will be no rifles. If you do not to march with the cadets you will still go down to the parade field for the pass and review, as in the past. You will need to march in step, stand at attention and parade rest, salute (present arms and order arms) and perform eyes right during pass and review. It is strongly suggested that you dress appropriately and not wear things like jeans, tee shirts, tennis shoes and such. Cadets form up on quad about 30 minutes before the parade. That is when you (if you wish to march) should "fall in" with your company/building. We did have 2 alumni join the Corps in 2011. See photos of the parade at This Link. It sure would be nice to see more in 2012.

Homecoming HeadquartersOnce again our Headquarters will be at the Park Inn Hotel Harrisburg West on the Carlisle Pike (Route 11) and is located four miles east of the Hotel Carlisle in Mechanicsburg.Click Here For Map of Park Inn Location Click Here For Map and Directions From Park Inn To CLMA This is a very busy hotel with many meetings, banquets, parties, and weddings booked throughout the year. The 2012, the group rate price will be the same as 2011 - $82 per night. IMPORTANT: Most of the guest rooms are outside access only in several two story wings. There are NO elevators to the guest rooms. This means that those of you who need or want a ground floor room must make your reservations early. We normally start accepting registrations for Homecoming around the beginning of June and will do that again this year. But if you are fairly certain that you will be at Homecoming 2012 and want or need a ground floor room, we urge you to make your reservations at the hotel as soon as possible. Many alumni attending in 2011 have already made their reservations for 2012. Don't wait until the last minute. Park Inn Hotel Harrisburg West is run by a large corporation that specializes in the hospitality industry and currently manages nearly 300 hotels around the country. This means that they don't run empty hotels. Their meeting and ball rooms are booked to capacity throughout the year. The hotel is nearly full, if not full, every night. So even if you do not need a ground floor room, you will want to make your reservations before the group rate window closes on September 21st. Contact information for the hotel: Park Inn Hotel Harrisburg West, 5401 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg PA 17050. 717-697-0321 or 800-772-7829. As in the past, you must contact the hotel directly to make group rate reservations and use Carson Long Alumni as the group name. Internet reservations do not qualify for the group rate. |
